Dr Lauren Brown is a molecular biologist whose career has been dedicated to studying the dysregulation of signalling pathways in paediatric cancer. She received her PhD from The University of Melbourne in 2019, where she identified and characterised novel kinase-activating fusion genes in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. In her current role, as a Research Officer at Children’s Cancer Institute, she leverages molecular data from the Zero Childhood Cancer Program to study novel genomic drivers of paediatric cancer, with a maintained interest in tyrosine kinases. Dr Brown’s research aims to establish the molecular mechanisms by which specific variants drive cancer, uncovering new cancer biology and opportunities for the use of targeted therapies.
