Associate Professor Theo Mantamadiotis

Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, Melbourne Brain Centre

Theo Mantamadiotis is a cell and molecular biologist, with expertise in neuroscience and cancer biology. He has been head of the Brain Cancer Biology & Tumour Microenvironment Laboratory, at The University of Melbourne, since 2011.

He completed his PhD training at the Ludwig Institute of Cancer Research in Melbourne, followed by post-doctoral research at the DKFZ-German Cancer Research Center. He also held a Marie-Curie Fellowship for research conducted at the University of Patras, as part of an EU Greek-German collaborative project, where he began his research on brain cancer.

His research combines the development of mouse models, organoids and novel applications of spatial biology, to understand how cellular and non-cellular components of the brain tumour microenvironment communicate, to regulate tumour biology and tumour immunity.
